Movie Review: Anchorman 2 (2013)

Summary

The old anchorman crew is back. After getting fired from his job, Ron Burgundy (Will Ferell) takes a new job in New York at GNN and convinces his old crew to join him. After getting stuck with the graveyard shift on the launch of the new network, Burgundy and his gang figure out a new way to revolutionize the news and skyrocket the network’s ratings. Ron must figure out how to deal with success at his job while also spending time with his family.

What I liked

This movie was obviously meant to be a comedy, and there were definitely some funny moments in it. I thought Will Ferrell was on his usual game which was a plus. There were definitely some funny quotes that I will remember as well. I also really liked how they made fun of the whole news cycle and what actually gets ratings, as well as the modern news industry. I also liked how they incorporated the important lesson of not letting fame make you lose sight of the people you care about.

What I didn’t like

I thought the last 30-45 minutes of this movie were pretty dumb to be honest. It probably could have ended a lot sooner than it did. I also didn’t really like Steve Carell’s character. I felt like they tried to hard to make him be funny.
