Samsung Introduces Galaxy Gear Smartwatch

Today Samsung is hosting an event in Berlin to reveal, among many other new products, the Galaxy Gear smartwatch. The watch has been rumored to have a 3 inch screen, camera, Wifi, and Bluetooth connectivity. Shortly after 1 pm, the Galaxy Gear smartwatch was confirmed. There are six colors of wristbands, including green and orange, and you will be able to answer calls, send texts, and send video memos. The camera is on the watchband, and quick swipes on the watch will allow you to scroll through apps. There is also synchronization between the Galaxy Note 3 and the Galaxy Gear smartwatch. Notifications from the phone will automatically appear on the watch as well. When you get a call, you can raise your hand to your ear like you are holding a phone in order to answer on the watch. The watch will feature a 1.63-inch Super AMOLED screen as well as gyroscope and accelerometer to follow movements, and a Gear App Store for downloading apps. The battery life is an impressive 25 hours. In order to follow live updates of the event which is still in progress, click on this link

Personally, the only thing I really care about is the smartwatch. There has been expectations surrounding it for a while, and the anticipation is only building with its official announcement and release date set for later this month. It is a really cool concept but it will be interesting to see how it actually translates to everyday life. There are definitely pros and cons to a smartwatch over a smartphone, and I can only imagine the smartwatch will continue to be refined and improved, and competition will drive it to be the best it can be. So far it seems like Google Glass has not really been catching on, so it will be interesting to see if the watch will follow the same path or be really popular.

Let me know what you guys think about the smartwatch down below. Please like the post, comment if you have feedback, and share with others.
