Andrew Wiggins made his long-awaited decision today, announcing that he will play basketball for the Kansas Jayhawks next season. Wiggins, the #1 recruit in the country, averaged 24 points and 12 rebounds his senior season. Wiggins, who grew up in Toronto, also had offers from Florida State, North Carolina, and Kentucky. His mother played track and field in the Olympics for Canada and won two silver medals, while his father played in the NBA for six years. Kansas now trails only Kentucky with the nation’s second best recruiting class in 2013.
Many people say that Wiggins is the best prospect since Lebron James. Watching highlights of this kid, I can definitely see why. He has unbelievable athleticism and just makes things look so easy at the rim. His potential is through the roof. Many people are saying he could easily go right to the NBA and even be a starter right now if it weren’t for the one year college rule. Needless to say, he is already being projected as a one and done player at Kansas and the first pick of the 2014 NBA Draft. I am going to love seeing this kid play in college next year. He seems like he has a likable personality and is just made for the highlight reel. I’m already looking forward to March Madness in 10 months.
