“WITH THE FIRST PICK IN THE 2013 NFL DRAFT, THE KANSAS CITY CHIEFS SELECT…..”
With the not so glorious honor of being the worst football team in the 2012 season, Kansas City has earned the rights to the number one overall pick in this year’s draft. The only question is: What will they do with it? There was speculation about drafting a quarterback following Matt Cassell’s disappointing season, but the Chiefs filled that need by trading for Alex Smith. Down below are the possibilities that Kansas City has for what they hope will be an annual pro bowler in the future.
1. Eric Fisher, Offensive Tackle, Central Michigan
Fisher is one of the most athletic tackles in this year’s draft, and could step in and play immediately on the offensive line.
2. Star Lotulelei, Defensive Tackle, Utah
Kansas City struggled significantly on defense last year, in large part due to its defensive line. Lotulelei would be a good fit to improve the D line under Andy Reid’s 3-4 scheme.
3. Luke Joeckel, Offensive Tackle, Texas A & M
After an impressive pro day, Joeckel is primed and ready to go high in this year’s draft. The 6′ 6″ 306 pound lineman will be an elite pass blocker in the NFL which will help Alex Smith at quarterback.
