Sun Feb 3rd, 6:30 pm CBS: Baltimore Ravens vs. San Francisco 49ers (-3.5)

The Baltimore Ravens and San Franscisco 49ers will head down to New Orleans, Louisiana to meet in Super Bowl XLVII this Sunday. The Ravens are coming off three straight playoff wins, two of them on the road, while the 49ers are riding high after knocking off both Green Bay and Atlanta. In a matchup of teams that both suffered disappointing losses in the conference championship last year, this Super Bowl looks to be an intriguing matchup. Two brothers coaching against each other, Ray Lewis’ last game, a chance for Randy Moss to finally earn a ring, and much more headline the news for this game.

What’s at Stake

For the Ravens, a win would earn them their second Super Bowl in franchise history, the other being against the Giants in Super Bowl XXXV. For the San Francisco 49ers, a win would mean their 6th Super Bowl in franchise history, tying them with the Pittsburgh Steelers for the most in NFL history. San Fransisco is a perfect 5-0 in Super Bowls.

X Factor: Joe Flacco

If the Ravens are going to have a chance, Joe Flacco will need to make plays against a stingy San Francisco secondary. He will need to look for playmakers like Torrey Smith, Anquan Boldin, and Ray Rice and get them going early in the game. Both these teams have tough defenses, meaning that every play will count if the game goes down to the wire. It’s time for Flacco to actually step up in a big game and prove his worth.

I believe this will be a close game. Both teams are evenly matched on offense, defense, and special teams. However, I am going to give the edge to Baltimore. They have been tested more so far in their quest for a championship, having to go through Andrew Luck, Peyton Manning in Denver, and Tom Brady in New England. Colin Kaepernick will certainly cause some problems for the Ravens defense, but it might be too tough a task asking him to score a lot of points. I think the Ravens jump out early in this game and hold on for a 27-23 victory.

This is probably the best superbowl matchup I’ve ever seen since becoming a football fan. I honestly don’t know who to call though because on one hand the ravens have already pulled two monster upsets and being three point underdogs is the best odds they’ve had in a while, but on the other hand kaepernick is the best rushing quarterback in the game and the raven’s d will not be able to stop him as well as the fact that the 49ers have never lost a superbowl. I will not be surprised no matter who wins and I am expecting to see one of the most exciting superbowls in a long time.
